Whoopie Pies (Treats For Co-Irkers)

I missed last week's Treats For Co-Irkers due to hubby being on vacation, so I felt it necessary to pull out all the stops and go for the gusto this week. These whoopie pies took sweets to a new level for me, and if a person could be arrested and sentenced for putting too much fat into a food item, I'd be on death row right now. But you know what? I think I'd ask for these for my last meal (HEE!)

I really just need to quit visiting Baker's Banter, King Arthur's food blog. I go there pretending to check out whole grain recipes and then I get suckered into the other sinfully delicious treats that they're continuously baking over there. PJ, I'm blaming my last two pounds on you!

I won't post the recipe here; you'll find everything you need to know there, and you'll be able to enjoy all the great photos that accompany the step-by-step directions.

Oh my...I love whoopie pies! I remember going to the Amish Country with my mom when I was younger to buy draft horses for our farm. They gave us a bunch of these to go home with. I couldn't have been but 5 or 6 years old, funny how I remember them that clearly! Guess they were THAT good.

Thanks for visiting my site, and the sweet comments. I really appreciate it!

First off, we missed you last week and I'm not just saying that to get more goodies. I checked your blog several times - to drewl over the good eats we were missing out on. Glad to have you and the hubs back.

Second - you are an angel. I love the fact that I got a special one - which I childishly rubbed in the other co-irkers faces. What can I say? I'm that immature.

Third - great heavenly days! These are good and rich. I wisely (and showing surprising restraint) halved the pie. And now I can have the other half for lunch.
I'm going to go and run a couple laps around the plant to burn off this sugar high.

Thank you so much, you wonderful whoopie making (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) woman! TGIF

Chocolate and cream form a great combination and taste so well together.

I make whoopie pies on occasion and find it hard to eat just one. Yours look like the real deal, too, with the whipped vanilla cream, not buttercream, in the middle.

Now I'm supposed to have breakfast, but all I want is a whoopie pie! What's a girl to do?

Co Irker: It's so nice to be appreciated. Thanks for your kind comments.

Lone Acorn: Agreed. They're a great combination.

Tastestopping: Yup, they're the real deal. A WHOLE CUP of shortening in that cream.

Missing Piece: Thanks!

Moogie: Thanks, I needed to hear that today because this photo was actually declined at one of the food photography sites.

Steph: LOL....I try so hard to be good!
