.....has found its way to my neck of the woods, or perhaps more aptly put, my breast of the woods. I've been waiting for what seems like FOREVER for the definitive results but didn't want to post anything until I had a positive biopsy report in my hands. Today I received the diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma in my left breast. I'm seeing a surgeon in Indianapolis a week from Friday and hope to know what my treatment options are but I wanted you, my friends, to know why I've been so negligent in my blogging, as well use this particular blog post to ask with all my heart and soul for your prayers and well-wishes.
The Other Side of 50 will be on hiatus until further notice. Please don't forget me and know that I'll never forget you.
love to you all,
Mags

Do not let this get the best of you...you get the best of it. I would love to follow your joys and sorrows through the recipes you make. And I am sure you could come up with some great recipe titles to fit the mood. Very obvious that you are a fighter - so fight and keep doing what you love. YOU own cancer, it does not own you! Do not give in!
Adding you to my prayer list, Maggie, and sending lots of love your way. I have several friends who are breast cancer survivors and one who has started an annual walk in our county to help raise funds for those women who can't afford mammograms. You can read about it here: http://kickinit-onestepatatime.com/default.aspx God bless you and comfort you!

We all wish we could be THERE but we're keeping you in our hearts just the same. xo Leslie
Hey! That's a really tough thing to face, but you have a lot of living to do, Mags, and you have a beautiful grandchild who needs to have a grandmother who is positive and upbeat. No goodbyes here - you have too many frinds to just decided to bail out. That is NOT an option. Do what you need to do, but you start thinking about how to LIVE. That's rule number one. Remember some of mine: "one day at a time", and "this too shall pass". Along with living comes the things you love to do, so do them. And don't let the bastards grind you down. Ever.
Good luck with this new challenge. You have such positive energy and attitude, and that's going to help in the weeks and months ahead. My thoughts are with you.
Oh Mags, I am so sorry to hear this. Take care of yourself and I hope for the best.
Come back to us soon...cancer-free and ready for the next stage of your life.

Hi--don't know if you're reading comments or not, but I just found your blog today and thought--hey, she sounds like me! And then I found out--a little too much like me. I also had breast cancer. The good news is that it has been 13 years of smooth sailing, and not a single problem or recurrence. So now I'm hoping you will be just like me! Good luck, and just know that there is life on the other side. The treatment takes over your life, but you *will* come out on the other side!
I am sorry and I wish you much Wellness! I know your feelings and want you to know I know first hand. Its a frightening time and it changes a person forever. I say its all good now that I look back...but I know first hand..its scarey as hell!! I send you strength!
i'm sorry to hear the bad news. my prayers are with you and hope everything goes well.

Just read what Amanda said and it goes for me too. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
I believe you can beat this.
I believe you are a warrior.
Consider yourself hugged!

I will be praying for you...you are a blessing!
My prayers are with you. Stay strong and kick it to the curb! Hugs!!!
I check every day hoping for an update on Maggie. I know we seem anonymous out here in blogger space, but we do care about this sweet, funny lady who brightened our days by sharing a bit of herself with other women of ' a certain age'.
I'm still cheering for our warrior & sending her strength. I know the bumpy road she travels now has some big potholes, but there's a sweet shop just a little farther up with the best chocolate. My treat.
I've been wondering how she is too.
Susie
