Cancer is one of those diseases that does not respect age. It if did, it would only affect the elderly and it would leave the little children, teenagers, nursing mothers, middle aged cougars (cough.. cough) and newly retired folks alone.
Here's how it's supposed to go down. You're born. You toddle and tyke and pee your pants. You go to school.... 12 or more years. You marry (or not) You find your niche in the working world. You curse and swear yourself through those WAY TOO LONG WORKING YEARS. And then? Oh man.... it's heaven on earth, spelled R-E-T-I-R-E-M-E-N-T. And for those of us who wear wine-soaked rose colored glasses, we assume that those retirement years are meant to be spent in bliss. Travel. Grandchildren... Great-grandchildren if you were a early procreator (you know who you are.)
I lost my oldest brother Steve to melanoma today. Melanoma.... I laughed at your supposed danger. You're only skin cancer, you little freak. Melanoma I hate you. You deceived me and the sunscreen I wore forever. You don't give a rat's ass who you attack or how you metastasize through lungs and brains. You suck.
Breast cancer... listen up bitch. You're a pussy. I AM NOT going to go through what my brother went through. You can just SUCK IT. Find some 95 year old woman to affect..... or better yet, just die off yourself. You're not wanted here. CANCER, WE FREAKING HATE YOU.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have to agree with you..."Cancer! Take a hike!"
I'm so so sorry for your loss. I lost my mum to lung cancer and have for the past 18 months been battling colon cancer.
It seems to be everywhere! ditto all you said. F off cancer.
So sad to hear this news. Cancer is a terrible thing and I cannot believe we have not kicked it's butt yet. So many good folks lost to this terrible disease. I am very sorry you lost your brother.
Sorry to hear the news. There is so much cancer, I don't understand why. I wish a cure would show up soon.
So sorry for your loss. You're right that we all forget little ole skin cancer can do this. Love your attitude, keep up the fight.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I found a video just yesterday that can save so many lives from being lost to melanoma. I sent the link to all of my family, friends, and acquaintances. I hope everyone who reads your blog will send this link to their families and friends. If Steve had known this at 16....you would probably still have him. It's not too late for your children and grandchildren, and of course, you. Some forms of cancer are preventable, and melanoma is one of them.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Mags.
Oh honey, I can't believe the shit year your family has had. I have no magic words to make it better.
When my daughter was diagnosed with cancer my 1st thought was how I wished I could pass it on to someone else - a more deserving person. It only took a few seconds of looking at the other people nearby to realize that no one deserves cancer.
You're a tough little broad & I'm absolutely confident you will beat yours. For you & your family I wish peace, strength & comfort. Val
Oh Mags :( sending you many thoughts and prayers.
